SOLAR LAB RES CLUSTER

DESCRIPTION

The Solar Lab is a Net Zero Energy Building (NZEB) that offers conditions to test energy systems, such as microgrid approach, IoT infrastructures, EV charging and other integrated components. Located in the municipality of Alcoutim, Algarve region - highest solar radiation in Europe. The Solar Lab is equipped with a PV installation, an EV charger, a weather station (high resolution sensors) DNI, UVE and other equipment, indoor sensors for IEQ monitoring, smart appliances for use as electric loads and Wi-Fi communication, electric energy storage unit. DEMO site within H2020 projects SHAR-Q (smart energy) and VICINITY (IoT) where concepts like interoperability between distributed energy systems and decentralized IoT infrastructure, were explored, tested and demonstrated to the stakeholders. The facility is linked to Solar Demo Platform with concept of shared RES infra and cluster of municipal buildings with infrastructures

AREAS OF SPECIAL COMPETENCE

Technologies for system flexibility (PV + batteries), EV charging tests, testing of battery charging states, grid connection tests, flexibility models, IEQ integration, local weather forecasting. DEMO site, testing, integration.

The cluster site of RES DER, testing environment and links through web platform. Real-time measured data monitoring (via web platform)/Grid-tied & off-grid environment/Video streaming of devices under test/Benchmarking assessment/Product development & prototype testing/Rapid scaling up within regional programs and collab environment/Business models

AVAILABLE INFRASTRUCTURE

Solar Lab has: 11.7 kWp photovoltaic installation, 4.2 kWh battery, smart meter, EV charging station, sensors (UV, GSR, DSR, temperature, relative humidity, hot water flow), Wi-Fi communications and smart appliances (smart freezer and oven)

Pricing models depend on the area of focus and varies according to how human resources intensive projects are. It is not fixed and subject to interest and further discussions. Co-creation of solutions is of relevance to us. We have a combination of free support to full testing support. DEMO goals will determine pricing model. Public data is available.
