ERIGrid 2.0 Smart Energy Systems Research Infrastructure Network with technical laboratories

DESCRIPTION

ERIGrid 2.0 is a European research infrastructure which provides free-access to laboratories for validating smart energy networks with the electric power grid as the main backbone. The project involves 20 partners from 13 European countries whereas 21 top-class smart grid, smart energy systems, and DER laboratories and 8 virtual facilities are being made freely accessible.

The project invites all interested engineers involved in the domains of power system testing, smart grids and energy systems to receive free funding to access the best laboratories of Europe and perform their own experimental research.

AREAS OF SPECIAL COMPETENCE

Led by the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, the European consortium of innovative research and development laboratories offers research infrastructure of the ERIGrid 2.0 partners to researchers and experts for developing, testing and validating modern power supply systems, the integration of renewable energies, the digitalisation of the networks and intelligent energy systems. The project is based on holistic, cyber-physical validations of the energy system, which can also be carried out in virtual environments.

WHAT CAN BE TESTED

ERIGrid 2.0 is a single-entry point for researchers active in smart grids, smart energy systems, and integration of renewables, as it offers a broad spectrum of advanced testing and validation services, methods, and tools.

AVAILABLE INFRASTRUCTURE

The ERIGrid 2.0 network provides access to concentrated know-how and best practices in the field of smart grids, smart energy systems and DER, such as power system components characterisation and evaluation, smart grid ICT/automation validation, co-simulation, real-time simulation and Power/Controller Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), and others.
