ERA-Net SES Virtual Working Group Meetings Winter 2022

ERA-Net SES facilitates the exchange between experts in the field of smart energy systems. Our next series of virtual Working Group Meetings will be held in January and February 2022. Join the meetings for fruitful exchange within the ongoing process of co-creation!

Experts in the field of smart energy systems are highly welcome to register and

Starting with the JPP SES Status Conference, we introduced an advanced element for cooperation within the international smart energy innovation world. The Working Groups relate the approaches and findings from JPP SES funded projects to the research and innovation activities outside the JPP SES ecosystem. From this, Spotlights and Policy Briefs are then developed and published by the JPP SES Knowledge Community. While Spotlights provide an update on the ongoing activities and intermediate results of the JPP SES initiative at a specific time of its implementation, Policy Briefs are informed recommendations developed by JPP SES Knowledge Community scientific experts in smart energy systems, which – according to the experts’ perspective – should be considered by decision makers in policy, legislation, funding and industry.

To that end, Working Group members have selected a set of relevant "reference documents”, i.e. directives, meta-studies, reports and roadmaps or similar, in their meetings in November and December 2021. During the ongoing process of discussion, all projects are now asked to add their perspective online to the shared discussion documents and respective selected statements of one or more Working Groups.

In the upcoming Working Group Meetings, the projects’ perspectives –  i.e., the project outcomes in relation to findings and positions described in the reference documents – will be discussed.

After the Working Group Meetings, their leads will prepare a draft version of the 2022 Edition of Policy Briefs for review and finalization in the Working Group Meetings in Spring 2022.

Preparatory tasks

To prepare for a fruitful discussion in the Working Group, please visit the Working Group workspace on expera. In case you are not yet registered as a Working Group member, write to us stating which Working Group(s) you would like to join and we will give you access as an official member to the Working Group workspace.

On the Working Group’s workspace, dedicate some time to review the current status of the work and add your own (and your consortium’s) thoughts. In the workspace, you can find

  • an introduction to the process
  • a list of the proposed reference documents
  • the selected documents for discussion, with a discussion document each
  • examples for how to relate the outcome of your project to those documents in each discussion document
