Green Deal and Green Recovery - 2 pillars for a sustainable Europe! Join our EUSEW extended event!

Our interactive online event on 19 June 2020 back-2-back with the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) will outline how integration of technical and societal approaches will help us to grow after COVID-19.

User-centred Smart Energy Systems for Real Life Communities

The online-session aims at shaping the transition to a low carbon ecosystem with new and improved technologies in combination with societal innovation processes. Following the challenges of the European Green Deal (EGD), experts will discuss the role of Living Labs (LLs) for the integration of technical and societal solutions - not the least in the light of EC’s COVID-19 recovery instrument, called Next Generation EU (NGE) presented on 27 May 2020 by President Ursula von der Leyen.

The event will be moderated by the Joint Programming Platform ERA-Net Smart Energy Systems (JPP ERA-Net SES) and was co-designed with DG ENER. Panellists come from the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL), CLIC Innovation Ltd. and projects funded by JPP ERA-Net SES.

The JPP ERA-Net SES has proven that involving partners from governance, economy and academia in transnational funding actions is key to accelerate and enrich RDI programs for clean energy transition. LLs are user-centred, open innovation ecosystems based on systematic user co-creation approach, integrating research and innovation processes in real life communities and settings.  As such, LLs can help preparing our digital societies for a post-COVID future and at the same time take a role in experiencing new technical and societal approaches in energy transition. Leveraging on experiences of ENoLL’s Living Labs, other initiatives may evolve and reuse existing structures for cooperation and knowledge management (e.g. expera knowledge platform).

As a participant, you will benefit from discussions on:

  • How can LLs speed up the energy transition, contributing to SET-Plan and Goals of the European Green Deal?
  • How can LLs help preparing society for sustainable post-COVID times with respect to green recovery?
  • How can ongoing and future projects liaise with existing LLs?
  • Which political and organizational actions are required to implement more LLs to support the European Green Deal and green recovery?
